About

Paula Hatten

Paula Hatten was born and raised in England, then moved to Crete where she studied relaxation massage with therapist Georgina Mavromatis in 1990.  In 1993, she began to travel the world to experience different cultures. Her travels led her to New Zealand, where she met and married her husband, Paul, in 1998.  In 2007, her parents both succumbed to cancer, and Paula was inspired to help ease the suffering of others through massage and holistic therapeutic treatments. She founded Float Away that year, and committed herself to continuing her education in massage and holistic healing arts.

Over the past several years, Paula has added many skills to her practice, including Sports and Health Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Auric/Magnetic Healing, Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage, Remedial Massage, Acupressure, and Polarity. She achieved a diploma in Therapeutic Massage and is a Member of Massage New Zealand, the National Federation of Spiritual Healers (NZ), Magnetic Healers Unlimited, and is a registered therapist in Oncology

Of special importance is the practice of Indian Head Massage for cancer patients, palliative, sick, and elderly people as it is noninvasive, a light touch done over clothing whilst the client is seated in a chair. She routinely volunteers to provide this service along with hand and foot massage to the Gisborne Cancer society and Gisborne Palliative care patients. She received a citizen’s civic award, merit award in 2012 for community service through the Gisborne Cancer society. In 2016, she expanded her training and became a qualified Oncology massage therapist. She is additionally a service provider for Sweet Louise, Terrier Race Against Time and Shocking  Pink.

She loves helping people to achieve health and balance with their body, mind, spirit and soul. Regardless of age and health situation all of her Holistic Therapeutic Treatments will help to let go of tension, aches and pains, enable you to calm the spirit, relax the mind, release emotional stress, and float away.
